Guided Night Dives

The ocean truly comes alive at night and nowhere is this more true than right here in South Australia! Port Jackson sharks, Blue Ringed Octopuses, Giant Cuttlefish, Pygmy Cuttlefish, Bob Tail Squid, Giant Sea Slugs, Sea Horses and even the occasional Leafy Sea Dragon are just some of the amazing species that can all be found in our coastal waters at night!

Port Noarlunga Jetty and Reef in particular is a big favourite amongst local divers for night dives. Less than 30 minutes away from the Adelaide CBD this site is not only the most convenient and accessible dive site in South Australia, but also features all of the species mentioned along with a host of other critters that you can only find at night. As if that was not enough, it’s also one of the very few places on earth where, with a little patience and a lot of luck, you can spot the ever elusive and aptly named Goblin Fish!

If you’ve never done a night dive before or if you’re feeling a little nervous, don’t worry! Your Divemaster or Instructor for the evening will do a thorough briefing to cover all the diving theory and protocols that you need to know and will be with you every step, or kick, of the way!

Port Noarlunga Jetty is about a half an hour’s drive from the city on the Freeway so getting there and back is safe and easy in the dark.

We usually meet at in the main car park in front of the Port Noarlunga Surf Lifesaving Club where we do a thorough briefing before gear up and head down to the water for some fun! Be prepared for a bit of a walk as the distance from the carpark to the entry point is a little over 200m.

Transport

We have 4 company vans with 2 passenger seats. When running our guided night dive tours, we include transport for up to 2 people per guide. If you would prefer to book in with 3 people or 4 people with transport included, please mention this in your booking. We will then book in 2 guides for the day and allocate 2 vans for the tour. The cost in that case will be adjusted accordingly.
