ANCHOR Dives help you become more aware and natural in the water by building confidence and strong diving habits, with gentle orientation from an instructor in a relaxed, real-world environment.
Designed for newly certified and developing divers, ANCHOR Dives are the perfect bridge between completing your Open Water course and becoming a confident, regular diver.
You’re already certified and ready to dive — what ANCHOR provides is the experience that turns training into comfort. These small-group dives focus on real-world diving rather than skills assessment, giving you the time, space, and support to settle into the water, practise good habits, and start diving with ease.
Each ANCHOR Dive runs alongside our social dives, creating a welcoming and social atmosphere, but with the added reassurance of an instructor dedicated to your group. In small groups of no more than five divers, you’ll plan your dive, set up your gear, and dive with your buddy as you normally would — with an instructor there to gently orient, answer questions, and offer guidance where it’s genuinely helpful.
During the dive, the instructor takes on a mentor role, observing how things feel for you in the water and sharing practical tips during the debrief to help you continue improving. You’ll also leave with simple exercises and suggestions you can practise on future dives, whether independently, on social dives, or by returning for another ANCHOR session.
ANCHOR Dives are intentionally relaxed, repeatable, and pressure-free. There’s no testing, no judgement, and no expectation to “perform”. Many divers choose to do multiple ANCHOR Dives as they build familiarity, confidence, and consistency — often with the same instructor, allowing for continuity in your development.
If social dives still feel a little intimidating, or if you’re not quite ready to plan and execute dives entirely on your own, ANCHOR Dives offer a supportive and enjoyable way to keep diving, meet other divers, and grow naturally into the local dive community.
For most divers, this is the easiest and most confidence-building next step after Open Water — and the start of diving becoming something you simply do, not something you overthink.
ANCHOR Dives are ideal for you if:
You’ve recently completed your Open Water course and want an easy, supportive way to keep diving
You feel comfortable underwater but would like more real-world experience to build confidence
You want to practise setting up your gear, planning dives, and diving with a buddy without pressure
Social dives sound appealing, but still feel a little intimidating right now
You’d like an instructor nearby for guidance, reassurance, and questions — without being assessed
You prefer small groups and a relaxed, friendly atmosphere
You want diving to start feeling natural and enjoyable, not stressful or overwhelming
Many divers choose ANCHOR Dives as their first few dives after Open Water, and some return multiple times as they continue building comfort, familiarity, and good habits.
ANCHOR Dives may not be the right fit if:
You’re already confidently planning and diving independently with your own buddies
You’re looking for formal training, skills assessment, or a certification course
You want a fully guided dive where the instructor leads everything for you
You’re specifically aiming to complete Advanced, Rescue, or specialty training
You’re comfortable joining social dives without additional support
If that’s the case, you may prefer our regular social dives, Advanced Open Water course, or other continuing education options.
If you’re unsure where you fit, ANCHOR Dives are often the safest and most confidence-building place to start. Our team is always happy to help you choose the option that best suits where you’re at right now.
